Caring for your skin throughout the Autumn months
As we transition into autumn the weather becomes cooler and drier, which can have an impact on our skin making it more susceptible to signs of ageing. Making small changes to meet the needs of the skin by adding different active ingredients to your at-home skincare routine will keep you glowing and protected through the cooler months.
Here are my top tips for caring for your skin during this season:
Moisturise: As the weather becomes cooler, the air becomes drier, which can lead to dry and irritated skin. It's important to moisturize your skin to keep it hydrated and healthy. Choose a moisturizer that's appropriate for your skin type and use it daily. I recommend DOCTOR BABOR PRO EGF cream for the winter months.
Use Sunscreen: Even though the weather may be cooler, the sun can still damage your skin. Make sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 every day, especially if you're going to be outside for an extended period. I apply DOCTOR BABOR SPF 50 every day to my skin throughout the whole year.
Exfoliate: As the weather changes, your skin may become drier and flakier. Exfoliating your skin twice a week will remove dead skin cells and keep your skin looking smooth and radiant. There are two ways to exfoliate at home with a fine granule or an AHA gentle peel to keep the skin glowing over the cooler months. Enzyme cleanser is a great addition to your cleansing routine in the winter months, to brighten and gently exfoliate.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water is important for overall health and can help keep your skin hydrated. Aim for at least 2 litres a day. Water is still just as important in the winter as in the summer.
Hot Showers: As tempting as it is, try to avoid turning up the heat in the shower. This can lead to striping the skin of its natural oils and impairing the skin’s barrier functions. Opt for a lukewarm temperature and keep the run time to a minimum.
Adjust your skincare routine: As the weather changes, you may need to adjust your skincare routine. For example, if your skin becomes drier, you may need to use a moisturizer that is higher in lipids or switch to a more hydrating cleanser.
At the beginning of every facial, we will always sit down and chat through your skin. Whether it’s your first visit at SKN Haus or your 10th. I love to get the best out of your skin all year round. By following these tips, you can help keep your skin healthy and radiant during the autumn and winter months.
