Jenny’s top skin tips
From experience, there are many things you can do to prevent premature aging and keep your skin looking healthy and youthful. Here are my top tips on how to get ahead of the ageing process, and get the best out of your skin every day.
Protect your skin from the sun: Exposure to UV radiation from the sun is one of the biggest causes of premature aging. To protect your skin, wear sunscreen with an SPF of 50 every day, avoid the sun during peak hours (10 am to 4 pm) and always leave the house with a hat.
A consistent skincare routine that changes when your skin changes: This includes cleansing, toning, and moisturizing your skin twice a day, as well as exfoliating once a week to remove dead skin cells. Use active serums to treat skin concerns such as pigment and wrinkles. Summer skin care can be different to winter skin care, for example, I recommend a more lipid-rich moisturiser to my clients during the cooler winter months.
Less is always more: don’t overload your skin with too much product, professional skin care such as BABOR is active and made to be used sparingly. For example, only use the size of a pea for your moisturiser and a grain of rice for your eye cream. Two pumps of toner. Half a pipette of your active serums.
Hairline all the down to decolletage: your skincare routine should not stop at the chin. Work on your product down to the decolletage.
Exercise regularly: Exercise increases blood flow and oxygen to the skin, which can help give you a healthy glow.
Eat a healthy diet: A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein can provide your body with the nutrients it needs to maintain healthy skin. Foods high in antioxidants, such as berries, leafy greens, and dark chocolate, may be especially beneficial for preventing premature aging.
Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated, which can prevent dryness, flakiness, and wrinkles.
Get enough sleep: Lack of sleep can lead to dark circles, fine lines, and a dull complexion. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night to give your skin time to repair and rejuvenate.
Manage stress: Chronic stress can take a toll on your skin, leading to inflammation and premature aging. Practices like meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises can help manage stress and promote skin health.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption: Alcohol dehydrates the skin and can lead to inflammation, which can accelerate aging. Limit your alcohol intake to no more than one drink per day.
By adopting these healthy habits, you can help prevent premature aging and keep your skin looking its best. We will always look at your skin and discuss your current needs, our facials are precise to you and we pride ourselves on this.
